Sea moss is a living marine plant and a type of algae, commonly referred to as seaweed. It grows year-round in tide pools, rock pools, and ocean inlets where there is consistent water movement. As it grows, sea moss naturally interlocks with coral rocks and absorbs minerals from them.

Sea moss is naturally rich in essential nutrients, including folate, vitamin K, iron, iodine, magnesium, and calcium, making it a powerful addition to a wellness-focused lifestyle.

Yes, there are different species of sea moss. To simplify, we refer to them as General Sea Moss (the more common variety) and Irish Sea Moss.

General Sea Moss grows on rocks and in various types of waters. It is found in many regions and climates around the world, including the warmer waters of the Caribbean, as well as parts of Asia, South America, and Africa.

Irish sea moss, also known as Chondrus Crispus, is found along the coast of Ireland and the North Atlantic in cooler waters. Unlike general sea moss, Irish sea moss grows exclusively on rocks.

Both general sea moss and Irish sea moss offer many similar health benefits. However, Irish sea moss naturally contains carrageenan, which may help support sore throats, coughs, colds, and chest discomfort. This natural carrageenan is different from the highly processed carrageenan commonly used in commercial food products.

Both types of sea moss are rich in vitamins and minerals, contain beneficial amino acids, and are loaded with antioxidants. Simply put—both are excellent for supporting overall wellness.

Sea moss is often referred to as a superfood because it is nutrient-dense while remaining low in calories. Sea moss gel can be taken straight from the jar. We recommend two tablespoons per day. Always use a clean spoon for each serving and avoid double dipping to help prevent bacteria contamination and extend shelf life.

Our sea moss gel is made fresh with every order. For best quality, please keep it refrigerated at all times. When stored properly, sea moss gel has a shelf life of up to 30 days in the refrigerator and up to 60 days in the freezer.
